Club Affiliation / Athlete Registration Help

The below information explains what institutions must do regarding Club Affiliation and Athlete Registration:

Does the institution’s club plan to compete in open competitions, promote open competitions or benefit from UKA Public Liability Insurance?

For BUCS’ sport specific affiliation purposes, open competitions are defined as those available for athletes outside BUCS member institutions to enter.

Yes

The club must affiliate with their Home Nation Association, unless they do not meet the criteria that constitutes a club. These criteria can be found on the relevant Home Nation Association website.

Currently the BUCS Athletics Combined Events Championship takes place within an open competition, from which BUCS results are extracted.

No

If the club only plans to compete in closed University competitions, the club does not need to affiliate with their Home Nation Association.

Currently the BUCS Athletics Cross Country Championships, Indoor Championships, 10,000m Championships, and Outdoor Championships are closed University competitions.

If the institution’s club is affiliated to its Home Nation Association, do athletes need to have completed the Athlete Registration process with that club and have a valid URN?

Yes

If the athlete is going to represent the club in open competitions.

No

If the athlete is only competing in closed University competitions.
