UNIversal Gym is a membership scheme which enables access to multiple gyms across all four of the home nations, allowing students and staff to work out wherever they are in the UK.
Following a successful 2021-22 season, the Sport England funded UNIversal Gym programme continues to grow from the strength to strength.
76 institutions signed up to the scheme and a grand total of 15,420 gym bookings made by 3,644 members in the UK. 69% of UNIversal Gym members are now physically active for at least 150 minutes per week, thanks to access to world class facilities at their local university.
In addition to this, 59% of members are between the ages of 16-21 showcasing the importance of this scheme to over 2,500 users.
Development Manager Sean Harris commented on its progress: “UNIversal Gym provides guaranteed access to a range of students and staff at a time and place that suits their lifestyle. Last season’s success is testament to the incredible work across the 76 institutions and thank you to all the gym staff for their dedication towards this programme.
