Technogym, a pioneering name in the world of sports and athletic training and Official Supplier of the Olympics, has selected a team of young athletes aspiring to an Olympic medal and created a highly personalised training programme for each one to prepare them for their performance at Tokyo 2020.
This group of international competitors will hone their athletic potential using Technogym’s most innovative products and digital technology, perfected over thirty years of supporting sporting events like the Olympic Games and the PGA Golf Tour, renowned football clubs like Juventus, Milan and Inter, the Ferrari and McLaren Formula One racing teams, and countless sports stars.
Some of the young contenders will travel from far away to reach Japan, such as the rower Oliver Zeidler from Germany, the triathlete Vincent Luis from France, track and field athletes Dafne Schippers from Holland and BUCS star Morgan Lake from Great Britain.
The fencer Kazuyasu Minobe and rock climber Akiyo Noguchi will be playing at home, ready to defend the Land of the Rising Sun before the eyes of their fellow countrymen. In the United States, Ben Kanute, triathlete from Illinois, and the rider Kent Farrington are putting the final touches on their Olympic preparation.
In Italy, four young athletes are deep into their training, getting ready for their performance in Tokyo: the cyclist Letizia Paternoster, the young tennis champion Jannik Sinner, the cyclist and Italian standard-bearer Elia Viviani, and the world-famous fencer Bebe Vio.
Rafael Nadal is also among the athletes training with Technogym. The tennis star has chosen Technogym for his athletic training ever since the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and partners with the company at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Palma de Mallorca. Although he will not be able to attend the Games, he demonstrated his support for the rest of the athletes by sending a message of encouragement for their upcoming challenges.
As Official Supplier, Technogym will equip 25 training centres in Tokyo including the Olympic and Paralympic Village. Over 1500 pieces of equipment will be set up for the 15,000 athletes from over 200 different countries descending upon Japan to participate in the games.
Olympic training centres will feature Technogym solutions like SKILL LINE, an equipment line designed specifically for sport performance training. It includes: SKILLRUN, a treadmill that has raised the bar in performance running; SKILLROW, the pioneering rowing machine; SKILLMILL, the only non-motorised treadmill that combines power, speed, endurance and agility training; SKILLBIKE, the first indoor bike with a gear control, allowing athletes to build strength and endurance more efficiently than ever. Each centre will also offer a complete solution for weightlifting and power training: with PURE, plate loaded equipment for strength building designed for safety and performance, and KINESIS, a comprehensive training system that supports over 200 exercises for strength, flexibility and balance thanks to its patented technology offering 360-degree movement.
Tokyo 2020 will be Technogym’s eighth time at the Olympics after Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and PyeongChang 2018.
