GB Students achieved medal success in the Trap Team Event won by George Eyston, William Gilbert and Oliver Sampson.

The FISU World University Shooting Sports Championships 2024, held between 9th-13th November in New Delhi, India, brought together university athletes from across the globe.

Shooting Sport is a prestigious FISU competition that started in Pilsen, Czech Republic, in 2003, where the first edition of the Championships was staged. In addition, Shooting Sport is an optional sport for FISU Summer World University Summer Games. An opportunity for talented student athletes to compete for GB Students; representing their country and respective universities.

The GB Students delegation is the representative team for BUCS in association with British Shooting to represent the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The GB Students delegation competing in India included 10 athletes from 9 different BUCS member universities from across England, Scotland and Wales.

GB Students achieved medal success in the Trap Team Event won by George Eyston, William Gilbert and Oliver Sampson. With strong performances across the delegation from Emily Shawyer, Hamish McDonald, Isobel Mactaggart and James Miller in the 10m Air Pistol. In addition, Olivia Beech, Lloyd Collins-Page and Megan Bamsey, with Beech and Collins-Page also competing in the 50m 3P.

George Eyston who attends Oxford Brookes University commented; “It is slightly disappointing to miss out on a final by just one target but winning a team silver alongside William and and Oliver made it all worthwhile”.
