Newcastle University, a top performing Russell Group University, is dedicated to providing its students with a high quality academic experience alongside a wide range of opportunities for students to take part in sport and fitness.
Extensive Intramural and exercise class programmes run alongside a performance sport programme that achieved 9th place in the British Universities and Colleges Sports Rankings 2018-19. For students that attend the gym Newcastle will be introducing a new digital journey thanks to the Technogym mywellness ecosystem.
Director of Sports Services, Colin Blackburn, commented that “Newcastle University is delighted to be partnering with Technogym - who not only demonstrated that they had an outstanding range of ergonomically designed equipment but also a user friendly digital platform designed to engage and inform our students including the option to upload their own personal content to make each workout unique, enjoyable and fun”.
From summer 2020 Newcastle University will use the Technogym market-leading fitness equipment, Excite, providing its members with a fully connected cardio experience that will keep users motivated during even the toughest of workouts.
Thanks to the innovative Unity platform, available on all Excite equipment, members can access engaging digital experiences, and even their own personal content, such as Netflix and BBC iPlayer, at any time during their training session.
Stephen Barton, Technogym Managing Director, commented on the announcement saying, “Technogym are delighted to be partnering with Newcastle University. Their vision to support students and staff members in finding their passion for fitness is a goal that aligns perfectly with the values held by Technogym. We look forward to collaborating throughout the partnership and playing a key part in making their vision a reality”.
