The event, organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), was a vibrant display of talent and skill, with competitions including beach volleyball, soccer, handball, and more. The sunny beaches of Rio de Janeiro provided a stunning backdrop for the thrilling games, which highlighted the growing popularity of beach sports on the global stage.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland were in attendance with the Bello brothers, Joaquin and Javier, representing GB Students, with the pair clinching a silver medal in beach volleyball. The duo, known for their incredible teamwork and athleticism, showcased their talent throughout the tournament, proving why they are regarded as rising stars in the sport.

The Bello brothers advanced through the competition with impressive victories against Slovakia, Hong Kong and the USA in the group stage followed by victories against Kosovo, France and Portugal in the knockout stages.
