With countless medals awarded to students at Nationals, there was one award that was given to a hero behind the scenes.

This year David Eddy was awarded the BUCS Lifetime achievement award, for his passion and dedication and continuing to go above and beyond for the BUCS Badminton Programme.

Dave Eddy has been involved in the game since the late sixties. First as a former bronze and gold Commonwealth Games medallist. Now, he is the very heart of the badminton programme.

Always busying himself throughout the Badminton Championships, he is widely known for his dedicated and diligent shuttle supply specialist.

Students participating have all heard of Dave Eddy. They are aware that they are in the presence of the eagle-eyed true champion. He is always sharing his in-depth knowledge to students to help them improve their game.

Over the past 20 years, Eddy has been behind the scene leading the Badminton Management Group at BUSA in the late-90’s. He also served on the Chair of the Badminton England Elite Play Board for 12 years.

He regularly took up selector, coach, and team leader roles for national and international representative teams. Including the nurturing of many students towards success at the World University Championships.

Dave Eddy is beloved by all staff, volunteers and students who cross his path. BUCS will be forever indebted to him and thank him for his dedication and support to the programme.
