Description

Strength and Conditioning Programme Lead

• Lead the design and delivery of specific programmes for the International Sports Scholarship student athletes and identified student clubs teams, in collaboration with specialists, coaches and sport science personnel at the University of Stirling.

• Ensure the strength and conditioning programme at the University aligns with, and is delivered in compliance with the professional guidelines and recommendations.

• Engage and apply knowledge of skills in Performance Sport and successfully demonstrate enhanced physical performance, injury prevention, and holistic well-being of athletes.

• Work collaboratively with relevant staff in the Sports Development Service to develop Strength and Conditioning programs that ensure principles of science are reflected in adaptation; periodisation; peaking; tapering; injury prevention; rehabilitation; recovery and athlete screening/assessment.

• Ensure that the delivery of the strength and conditioning service effectively meets its commitments to athletes, coaches and partner organisations.

• Within the rules of professional confidentiality liaise with athletes, primary care managers, parents, coaches and other support staff as appropriate.

• Work within the rules of the UK Professional Code of Conduct, standards and guidelines, and, where appropriate, University/NGB codes, standards and guidelines.

• Develop an educational programme for aspiring Strength and Conditioning coaches.

Partnership Working:

• Ensure good communication and partnership with NGBs, sportscotland Institute for Sport and relevant partners, in the provision of S&C services to elite athletes at the University of Stirling

• Work individually and in collaboration with colleagues including the Head of Performance Sport, High Performance Coaches and Faculty colleagues, to attract additional income generating business in strength and conditioning.

• Work collaboratively with other external and internal deliverers of services within the S&C suite to ensure appropriate outcomes

Reporting

• Attend, contribute to and provide regular reports at appropriate meetings associated with the programme to key stakeholders.

• Manage the development of a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with athletes and coaches.

• Ensure all required teams and athletes have appropriate and measurable performance targets across all elements of the program.

• Conduct an annual review of the Strength and Conditioning programme to ensure evidence based progression

• Analyse best and emerging Strength and Conditioning practice in the sector and develop the S&C program accordingly

General Support

• Provide the Head of Performance Sport with timely, comprehensive and relevant management information based on computer-generated monthly, quarterly and annual returns and prepare other reports and papers as required.

• Build and maintain high-quality relationships with key partners of Sports Development Service.

• Assist with key university events such as Applicant Days and Open Days.

• Embed the University’s core values of excellence, openness and ambition.

• Support and promote the values and behaviours of the Sports Development Service and the University of Stirling at all times.

• Promote and be part of a continuous improvement culture set within a student orientated environment.

• Ensure that all University policies and procedures are adhered to.

• Carry out any other duties which are appropriate to the post as may be reasonably requested by the Deputy Director and senior managers in Sports Development Service.
