University of St Andrews - Director of Netball

University of St Andrews

Details

Closing date:   7 March 2022
Location:   St Andrews
Region:   Scotland
Employment type:   Full Time
Salary:   £34,304 to £40,297 per annum

Description

You will be responsible for leading and developing performance, competitive and recreational netball at St Andrews. The post will involve working closely with the University’s student netball club, which currently incorporates six BUCS teams and an ever growing internal league.

Key priorities will include enhancing the Performance Programme, improving the student experience across all teams, enhancing the recreational programme, and developing the student workforce in terms of coaching and umpiring.

There will be a considerable administrative responsibility in this role as you will ultimately be responsible for co-ordination of all netball affairs, liaising with colleagues in Saints Sport, other university units, volunteer coaches and the University of St Andrews Netball Club Committee.

Given the facilities, staffing and resource at the University of St Andrews, we have the infrastructure to support performance level netballers who are also exceptional academics. A key task will be recruiting talented academic netballers from across the world to help us reach our ambitions of playing university netball at the highest level, compete on a national level out with BUCS and provide opportunities for individuals to be an integral part of Netball Scotland’s Performance Pathway. Building on the close relationship with Netball Scotland will be crucial, both from a performance and development perspective.

We believe the University netball programme can help Netball Scotland achieve their outcome goals whilst also providing opportunities for our student body.

The university has aspirations to enhance netball in the local community, provide student development opportunities and generate income by creating and developing netball specific sessions and camps for the local community.

We envisage the Director of Netball leading this project, working closely with key partners within the university, St Andrews, Fife Sport and Leisure Trust and Netball Scotland.
