Sir Stanley Matthews Sports Centre provides year round access to sports facilities and the gym to students, staff and the public. With a large variety of activities taking place and a large area to maintain this role is imperative to our aim of providing the best service and experience to our customers. Providing the best customer service through undertaking gym inductions, through to providing porterage of sports equipment, the role is the heartbeat of the centre.
The role also provides First Aid cover across the building and external facilities.
The role works on a rota, supported on shift by a Recreation Steward working over a 3 week rota to allow the centre to open from 7am through to 10.30pm and also weekends.
Our aim to provide the best service and experience means this post is integral to supporting our University Sport & Physical Activity Strategy by helping to provide as many quality opportunities for our students as possible. Being part of the facility team but day to day support for our Sports Development Team, ensuring our teams and scholars have access to the best facilities and equipment possible.
The role also supports the wider University Strategy by being both Brilliant & Friendly and Proud To Be Staffs, particularly as a first point of contact for customers, new students on Open Days, large events held within the sports centre and day to day with anyone using the facility.
