About ARU
ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK. At our ARU Writtle campus, we specialise in animal, environmental, agricultural and horticultural courses, for learners aged 16 to 18, adult learners, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
About the Role:
Based on the Writtle campus, you will form a key part of our facilities team, contributing towards the successful delivery of the University Strategy for Sport – our plan to significantly increase the number of people engaged in sport, recreation and wellbeing activities over the next 5 years.
You’ll be responsible for the wide range of sports facilities on site, ensuring operational standards are maintained and balancing the needs of student sport with wider university requirements.
You’ll play an important role creating new partnerships and making recommendations that enhance facility utilisation and developing educational opportunities for students.
You’ll also ensure the on-campus gym delivers an exceptional service to members and you will provide inductions to members when required.
Educated to degree level, or equivalent, with a level 2 gym instructor qualification, you’ll have demonstrable experience of working in a sports environment.
In addition to a passion for sport, you will have excellent organisational and customer service skills, knowledge of relevant health and safety standards and experience of using leisure management systems.
