Description
The role will primarily be responsible for leading coaching sessions and matchday activities with a focus on developing the performance and student experience of the first team squad.
The role will also support the holistic development of the wider club through providing guidance and mentoring to student coaches appointed across the second and third teams.
For 23/24: The 1st team currently compete in BUCS Northern Tier 1A. They play 10 league games in total plus cup fixtures between October and March and an annual varsity fixture in April/May. Games take place on a Wednesday and the first team currently train once a week at the Headingley Campus on Monday’s 18:00 -20:00.
Responsibilities:
- To plan and deliver a comprehensive coaching programme that improves the performance and experience of Leeds Beckett University Women’s Football Club first team.
- To collaborate with the elected club captain and appointed student coaches to develop and implement a fair & equitable talent identification, recruitment and selection system across all teams within the Women’s Football Club.
- To offer guidance, support and mentoring to student coaches appointed through the Leadership Academy across the Women’s Football Club.
- To work with the Football Programme Coordinator to establish a proactive system of identifying potential elite players/ athletes and assist in the development of a respected University Sport Scholarship Scheme.
- To work with the Football Programme Coordinator to raise the profile of the Women’s Football Club locally, regionally and nationally.
- To cooperate with the Athletic Union, providing regular information and status reports on team performance and progress, as requested.
Indicative contact time requirement and hours: Term time: W/C 15/01/2024 – 13/05/24
- 2 hrs training/wk -Monday evening 18:00 – 20:00 for 23/24 (but could be adjusted to fit the coach’s vision and philosophy upon agreed extension into 24/25).
- 2-3 hrs BUCS match day across the scheduled fixtures.
NB: Head Coach attendance at away fixtures is desirable but not mandatory, with a relevant game plan to be provided to the first team captain in the absence of ability to attend away fixture.
Additional requirements:
• Approx. 2 hrs a week for 1-1/small group ad-hoc sessions, meetings, session planning, trials, player management and communications.* * The need for contracted services in these areas would vary at different points in the year but a plan would be agreed with the successful candidate at the outset
