British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the national governing body for higher education sport and the National University Sport Federation (NUSF) for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) are responsible for the organisation and governance of worldwide sporting competitions for student-athletes as the International University Sports Federation to NUSF national member associations from across five continents.
The FISU Ambassador representing the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will attend the FISU Student Ambassadors training. Following the participation in the training, participants are appointed as the FISU Student Ambassadors for the academic year 2025-26 representing their federation. The FISU Ambassador will be tasked to create an individual action plan supported by BUCS, to plan and deliver relevant and specific activities to support the development of university sport in their home country.
The 2025-26 edition of the FISU Student Ambassadors Programme will start in an online format, with the training session held across the 12-13 September 2025. This programme is a unique opportunity for a student from a BUCS institution to broaden their experience, knowledge and contribute to the development of international university sport. The FISU Ambassador for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will join fellow nation representative from across the world.
The FISU Student Ambassadors’ role is to serve as an important link between FISU, the NUSF and student communities to help raise awareness about the University Sport Movement among students. In addition, to acknowledge the importance of University Sports as a tool for promoting peace, cohesion and unity, further encourage all students to be actively involved in sports and volunteering activities including the International Day of Sport (IDUS).
The mission of the FISU Student Ambassadors Programme is to unite students from across the world and to develop university sport. The aim is to create a permanent international cultural and educational platform to professionally train student leaders who will be capable of organising volunteer programmes in their National University Sport Federation to implement local or national projects to develop university sport.
To be eligible for the FISU Student Ambassadors Programme, applicants must be a current student at a BUCS Member institution aged above 18 and under 25 years of age by 31 December 2025 (i.e. born between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2007). Furthermore, if you wish to be involved, applicants must be able to display their commitment to be a part of the FISU Student Ambassadors Programme for season 2025-26 if selected and be familiar with the regulations of the role and programme. Applicants must be ready to contribute their time and efforts to benefit from the programme.
