Description
You will coach a range of endurance runners from student athletes to those on the World Class Performance programme, supporting University and GB success to help attract other athletes to combine their running and studying at St Mary’s. You will put Individual Athlete Plans in place that promote athlete development and welfare, and deliver individual training and competition plans to deliver high-quality training sessions as part of a squad setup. You will attend regional and national athletics events to support athlete performance, and when doing so, you will promote the St Mary’s EPC as an England Athletics Talent Hub and a destination of choice for talented endurance runners.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· To establish an EPC culture that creates an engaging environment to inspire individuals to reach their potential · Work with athletes to develop Individual Athlete Plans, and set appropriate training and competition plans with built in review, to support athlete welfare and improved performance.
· Deliver high quality training sessions that encourage a high level of athlete engagement.
· Hold regular individual athlete and training group meetings to inform and communicate with athletes on a range of matters and to support athlete development and welfare.
· Attend all training (to include training camps) and appropriate competitions to include BUCS championships, national championships and major championships, to support athlete development, performance and recruitment.
· Work in a collaborative fashion with other endurance coaches and support practitioners to support the welfare, development and performance of athletes.
· To provide information and status reports, as agreed with the line manager, on athlete performance and development.
· To help develop the EPC as an England Athletics Talent Hub, sport in general, and to promote and support recruitment of student runners to St Mary’s University.
· Adhere to NGB requirements and guidelines, and the St Mary’s Coaching Code of Conduct to ensure athlete welfare, safety and safeguarding.
· Attend and contribute to coach development workshops as part of Continual Professional Development as agreed with EPC Coordinator & Performance Coach.
· To complete any other duties appropriate to the role, as directed by the line manager.
