Volunteers are integral to the smooth running of the events across all our sports.

EVENT VOLUNTEERING FOR STUDENTS

BUCS runs over 120 individual events for 50 sports across UK each year. For a full list of events we deliver and their dates please see this page. If you are a student and interested in volunteering at an individual BUCS event please fill out the form on this page. Applications for BUCS Nationals should be completed on the form below.

MAJOR EVENT STUDENT VOLUNTEERING

BUCS runs two major events in the year. BUCS Nationals (14-16 February 2025 in Sheffield) and BUCS Big Wednesday (18-19 March 2025 at Loughborough University). We recruit volunteers from the Sheffield area for BUCS Nationals, and work with Loughborough University to appoint volunteers through their student workforce.

BUCS Nationals

Event Roles (for Staff at a BUCS Member Institution)

BUCS are looking to appoint staff to be part of the event team running BUCS Nationals in 2025. We are currently accepting applications from individuals currently employed or engaged by a BUCS member University.

Applications are now open to volunteer at BUCS Nationals 2025. There are a range of roles on offer, and six sports to get involved in. Role descriptions can be found below.

BUCS Big Wednesday

If you are a student looking to volunteer at BUCS Big Wednesday – applications will be open through the Loughborough CVA Portal from November 2024.

Student Volunteering

We are now accepting applications to volunteer for BUCS Big Wednesday on 18 & 19 March 2025!

Over 100 volunteers will help to deliver this multi-sport event at Loughborough University, and we need people who are excited and passionate about university sport to join the team!

If you are passionate about giving back to your sport, or just generally like to be involved at sporting events then these roles are for you!

By volunteering with us you will develop new skills and knowledge, meet fabulous like-minded individuals and develop your own confidence!

All applications need to be made on the Loughborough University CVA Portal. You can sign up to this as a Loughborough Student and a non-student – we welcome everyone!

If you are a non-student please follow these instructions:

How to apply:

  1. Visit CVA Portal, click log in then ‘sign up to the CVA’
  2. Create an account, if not a Loughborough University student then select ‘Sign up as Non Student’ then register. Once verifying your account via the email sent to your inbox, you can access the opportunities open to community volunteers.
  3. On successful log in, you will then be prompted to fill in your profile details
  4. Once logged in, type in ‘BUCS Big Wednesday’ when on the ‘Opportunities tab’, click on which role you would like to apply to
  5. Read through the role description and duties and responsibilities, then answer any following questions
  6. Click apply and your application will be sent off. We will then be in contact in the new year with an update on your application and further details about the event and your role.

The deadline for applications is Friday 14 February.
