STAGED ENTRY

Should the competition allow more entries a Stage 2 Entry window will open. Priority will remain with the entries received before the Stage 1 entry closing date. Entries received in the Stage 2 window and accepted into the competition, will be charged an additional 20% fee.

Sprint Triathlon:

To apply for this competition:

1. Competitor to complete competition application on BUCS Play

2. Institution administrator approves entry

3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list.

Mixed Relay:

Institution Administrators are responsible for entering a team into team events. Only once the Institution Administrator has enter a team, students should apply for the correct team on BUCS Play. The Institution Administrator must then select competitors to form the ‘Squad’. A student is not able to join a team until their Institution Administrator has entered a team.

You MUST inform you Institution Administrator if you would like to enter a team to ensure the entry deadline is not missed. Please communicate with your Institution Administrator to ensure all entries are made and approved on time.

Students must be listed in the squad to compete in the team events.

Sprint Triathlon – Institutions can request 10 guaranteed entries per competition and 50 non-guaranteed; however should the event reach capacity BUCS may need to restrict the number of entries per institution. Therefore when submitting entries on BUCS Play, for both the Open Race and Women’s Race, competitors should be ranked in order of preference.

Mixed Relay – Institutions are permitted 1 team entry to the Mixed Relay. The team must comprise of two females and two who meet the criteria of an ‘open’ athlete. For clarity the definitions of ‘female’ and ‘open’ please refer to the British Triathlon Transgender Policy HERE

Registration and venue opens – 07:30 onwards

Swim starts - from 09:30. Swim waves are based on estimated swim times and will be released 1 week before the event.

All buses on site no later than 09:30. If you will be arriving by bus later than this, please contact the race organiser on [email protected] to arrange.

Please note: The timetable is subject to change depending on entry numbers. Final wave times will be released in the Event Guide once entries close.

The BUCS Sprint Triathlon will comprise of:

• 400m Swim
• 22k Open Road Bike
• 5k Closed Road Run

The BUCS Mixed Relay will comprise of:

• 150m Swim
• 7.5km Open Road Bike
• 1.67k Closed Road Run

Sprint Triathlon course description:

A 400m swim (25m length swimming pool) followed by 22k Open Road Bike Course - the course is made up of just 4 left turns on quiet but wide country roads (route map). 5k Closed Roads Run, 3 x lap of the grounds, on a mix of tarmac and trail/grass through the estate (route map).

Mixed Relay course description:

A 150m swim (25m length swimming pool) followed by a 7.5km Open Road Bike Course - 1 lap course of all left turns of 7.5km (route map). A 1.67k, Closed Road Run 1 lap course of the grounds (route map).

If you do not have a British Triathlon membership you are required to purchase a day licence to compete in this event. This costs £6 and must be purchased in advance of the event.

For the team results, extracted from the individual race results, the fastest 3 competitors per institution shall have their times (not placings) combined, with the best team being that with the lowest combined time. Only 1 team per institution will be counted.

No BUCS Points are available for the Mixed Relay as it the first year of the competition.

To withdraw from the event, please contact your Institution Administrator who should inform the event lead.
