Rules and Regulations

RULES AND REGULATIONS

BUCS Rules and regulations can be found here.

NSRA and postal competitions rules can be found below:

All shooters, team captains and witnesses must familiarise themselves with the NSRA Rules & Regulations 2024 for postal competitions.  These can be found here: https://www.nsra.co.uk/rules-information

Particularly:

University Rifle Clubs do not need to be affiliated to the NSRA in order to take part in the BUCS Rifle Competitions. But it is recommended.

Rule 7.4.10.1.1 – stickers must be affixed to the cards before shooting.

Rule 7.4.10.1.2 – the shooter must be correctly named on each card, either on the sticker or written in block capitals.

Rule 7.4.2 – the only thing that a shooter should be doing after shooting is signing the cards – nothing else.

Witnesses must be qualified to act as a witness under Rule 7.5.2 and must be fully conversant with their duties under R 7.6.

Rule 7.6.3.1 - the witness checks that the shooter has signed the card after shooting

Rule 7.6.3.2 - the witness signs and dates the card with the date of shooting after the card has been shot (and, de facto, signs that they have actually witnessed the shoot).

Therefore, to summarise:

  1. Cards must not be dated before shooting commences as this is strictly forbidden.
If there is already a date on the card, the witness should cross it out, initial it and write the date in again in their own handwriting.
  2. Witnesses must witness the shoot, ie they must be watching while the competitor shoots their competition cards.
  3. Competitors sign their card after shooting.
  4. Witnesses sign and date the card after the competitor has shot and signed it.
