Events and BUCS Points Available

EVENTS AND BUCS POINTS AVAILABLE

The 2025 Climbing Championships will include the following events:

Men’s Individual

Women’s Individual

Men’s Overall Team

Women’s Overall Team

The top 6 placings in the men’s and women’s individual events will compete in the finals and the top 4 placings earn BUCS points for their institution. The top 8 teams from the men’s and women’s team events will also earn BUCS points. Team positions are calculated based upon the performance of all BUCS men’s or women’s entrants of that institution. The top 3 scores of entrants from each institution in the individual competition will be extracted to form the team competition. In other words. Everybody is competing for BUCS points for their BUCS whether in the men's team, women's team, men's individual or women's individual competition.#

Entry Allowance

ENTRY ALLOWANCE

Institutions will be guaranteed 3 entries per gender and can have up to 20 non-guaranteed entries. To be eligible for the team competition an institution must have at least 3 entries of the same sex. For example, if an institutions submits 3 women’s entries and 2 men’s entries, they will be eligible for the women’s team competition, but not the men’s team competition.

If the event is oversubscribed, BUCS will restrict entries equally across institutions. Therefore, institution administrators should rank their entries in order of preference and if the event reaches capacity BUCS will use these rankings to determine places at the event.

Route Judges

Each institution with two or more entries to the competition are required to provide a minimum of two route judges.

Route judges are required to enter the 'Route Judge' category of the Climbing Championships on BUCS Play. Route judges be asked their preferred judging session when entering on BUCS Play. Please note – Whilst BUCS will do everything possible to accommodate the route judges preferred session, this may not be possible. Route Judge allocation will be displayed on the website alongside accepted entries and all route judges will be emailed their allocation ahead of the event.

Failure to supply route judges will result in a £25 fine.
