A list of hosts & event dates for the BUCS Indoor & Adaptive Rowing Championships can be found below:

  • Surrey – 5  November
  • Leeds - 5 November
  • Hertfordshire - 6 November
  • Queens - 9 November

When applying competitors must select which event they wish to attend from the dropdown list in BUCS Play.

All competitors must apply through BUCS play to be eligible for BUCS Points & medals.

Entry Dates & Costs

Entry Costs: £7.75 – BUCS will refund 80% of the entry fees received to the host Universities.

Entries Open: Tuesday 17 October 2022

Closing date for events running on 5 & 6 November 2022:

  • Tuesday 1 November 2022 at 23:59 - Student/Competitor Deadline (Students/ Competitors must apply by this deadline)

 

  • Thursday 3 November 2022 at 23:59 - Institution Administrator Approval Deadline (Institutional Administrators are given 48 hours after the student/ competitor deadline to approve entries)

 

Closing date for Queens event on 9 November

  • Thursday 3 November 2022 at 23:59 - Student/Competitor Deadline (Students/ Competitors must apply by this deadline)

 

  • Friday 4 November 2022 at 23:59 - Institution Administrator Approval Deadline (Institutional Administrators are given 48 hours after the student/ competitor deadline to approve entries)

 

Closing date for events running on 12 & 13 November 2022:

  • Tuesday 8 November 2022 at 23:59 – Student/Competitor Deadline (Students/ Competitors must apply by this deadline)

 

  • Thursday 10 November 2022 at 23:59 - Institution Administrator Approval Deadline (Institutional Administrators are given 48 hours after the student/ competitor deadline to approve entries)

Competition Format

The competition will consist of the following categories for both men and women:

  • Beginner (a beginner is classed as someone who has taken up the sport after 1 June 2022). Anyone who has taken up the sport before this date will not be eligible for the beginner category.
  • Championship Open Weight
  • Championship Lightweight
  • Championship Adaptive

 

The competition is a time trial over 2,000m for Championship categories (except Championship adaptive which is over 1,000m) and 1,000m for beginner categories.


 

BUCS Points

BUCS points and medals in each Championship category.

1st: 12 points and Gold medal

2nd: 8 points and Silver medal

3rd: 6 points and Bronze medal

4th: 4 points

Overall team points are available for a men’s team and a women’s team. Team positions are awarded based on an institution’s top four placings across all event categories.

 

1st: 20 points

2nd: 14 points

3rd: 10 points

4th: 7 points

5th: 5 points

6th: 3 points

7th: 2 points

8th: 1 point

Entry Allowance

There is no limit on the number of competitors an institution can enter into the BUCS Rowing Indoor Championships.

Entries must be approved by their university institution administrator

Withdrawals

Withdrawals must be made in writing by the athletic union or students’ union and e-mailed to Luke Gallen, the BUCS Event Manager.

Withdrawals after the IA Approval closing date (Thursday 3 November 2022 for events taking place on 5,6 & 9 November & Thursday 10 November 2022 for events taking place on 12 & 13 November) will still be charged the entry fee.
