The Exeter Invitational returns to Saunton in 2022 but this time players will be challenged by the East Course

Event Guide

Timetable

Round 1: Starting at 09:00 - 10 minute intervals, random order.

Round 2: Starting at 09:00 - 10 minute intervals, reverse score order

Round 3: Starting at 09:00 - 10 minute intervals, reverse score order

There will be a cut after Round 2 across the men's competition to top 24 including ties.

The registration desk will be open at least 30 minutes before the first tee time each day. Players are required to check in and pick up their scorecard from the desk each day.

Order of play for Monday will be released on Friday 4 March. 

Practice

Competitors are welcome to contact Saunton Golf Club for a practice round on Sunday 6 March at their own expense, please be aware there is limited availability.

Competitors will be given a driving range token at the beginning of each day to use prior to their round.

Registration

Competitors must register at least 30 minutes before starting Round 1. Competitors are encouraged to register as soon as they arrive at the venue. Registration will be located in the Trophy Room at the clubhouse.

Competitors must show their student ID on arrival. Competitors who do not register may have their tee time withdrawn. Players need to come to registration area each day to collect their scorecard.

Course guides will be available at the clubhouse for competitors to purchase for £5.

Competitors are encouraged to use and update golfbox for their scoring so the tournament can provide up to date live scoring.

As per the rules of golf, competitors who do not show for their tee time will be disqualified.

Order of Merit

This event forms part of the BUCS Golf Tour and Macpherson Order of Merit.

BUCS Macpherson Order of Merit points for qualification to the BUCS Golf Tour Finals will be awarded to the top 20 men and top 20 women as detailed within the BUCS Golf rules and regulations.

Withdrawals

Competitors withdrawing during the competition must inform email Luke Gallen, stating their reason for withdrawal. Any withdrawals after the IA approval deadline (Thursday 3 March) will still be charged the entry fee.

Competitors must also inform their institution they have withdrawn from the competition. Any competitor who does not show up to register for their opening round will be considered a no show and their institution will be fined £50 in addition to the entry fee for the event.

COVID Measures

The safety of students, volunteers and staff remains paramount as we move into the 2021-22 season, therefore for the time being we will still be implementing a series of COVID-19 Measures at our events. Although certain safety measures surrounding COVID-19 will be dictated by a venue or specific sport requirements we will be continuing to implement the following general measures across all of our events.

  1. Event Disclaimer includes specifics around COVID-19
  2. Whist inside staff members and volunteers interacting with competitors will be wearing appropriate face coverings
  3. Access to hand-washing facilities, or hand sanitiser

 What’s expected of competitors:

  1. Event competitors should stay home if they have tested positive for COVID-19, or are suspected to have COVID-19 
  2. Event competitors are expected to test if they have any COVID-19 symptoms or live in the same household with someone with COVID-19 symptoms prior to attending an event
  3. Competitors should stay home if they have been instructed to quarantine/self isolate due to international travel restrictions or by relevant home nation test and trace systems
  4. Competitiors are encouraged to take a lateral flow test before attending indoor events regardless of symptoms
  5. Competitors must follow direction from event staff, venue staff and volunteers.
  6. Competitors should ensure they are following hand hygiene practices at all times
  7. Competitors are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering when indoors and moving about the building
  8. Competitors should follow the guidance and safety procedures outlined for the event you are attending. These can be found in the Event Guide
  9. Competitors unable to attend event due to COVID-19 must contact the event lead
