Event Guide

Timetable

The following tee times are to be used as a guide. These are subject to change.

Monday 28 March - Round 1: From 10:03 - 9 minute intervals. Random order.

Tuesday 29 March - Round 2: From 7:21 - 9 minute intervals. Reverse score order.

Tuesday 29 March - Round 3: From 12:09 - 9 minute intervals. Reverse score order.

Wednesday 30 March - Round 4: From 10:03 - 9 minute intervals. Reverse score order.

Practice

Practice rounds are not available for this event.

Registration

Competitors must register at least 30 minutes before starting Round 1. Competitors are encouraged to register as soon as they arrive at the venue. Registration will be located in the clubhouse.

Competitors must show their student ID on arrival. Competitors who do not register may have their tee time withdrawn. Players need to come to registration area each day to collect their scorecard.

Course guides & driving range tokens will be available at the clubhouse for competitors to purchase.

Competitors are encouraged to use and update golfbox for their scoring so the tournament can provide up to date live scoring.

As per the rules of golf, competitors who do not show for their tee time will be disqualified.

Order of Merit

This event forms part of the BUCS Golf Tour and Macpherson Order of Merit.

BUCS Macpherson Order of Merit points for qualification to the BUCS Golf Tour Finals will be awarded to the top 20 men and top 20 women as detailed within the BUCS Golf rules and regulations.

Withdrawals

Competitors withdrawing during the competition must inform email Luke Gallen, stating their reason for withdrawal. Any withdrawals after the IA approval deadline (Thursday 17 March) will still be charged the entry fee.

Competitors must also inform their institution they have withdrawn from the competition. Any competitor who does not show up to register for their opening round will be considered a no show and their institution will be fined £50 in addition to the entry fee for the event.

Reserve List

Competitors who are not allocated a tee time on the start sheet will be included on the reserve list. Following the close of Stage 1 entries the reserve list will be arranged in handicap order. If an accepted competitor withdraws from the competition their tee time will be offered to the next competitor on the reserve list. BUCS will contact the institution of the reserve competitor to offer this tee time.

If a reserve competitor is unable to take the tee time BUCS will contact the next institution until the tee time is taken. Reserve competitors should communicate their availability with their athletic union or students’ union and remain available should withdrawals occur.

If a competitor on the reserve list no longer wishes to be considered for the competition; they must inform their institution and withdraw following the process detailed in the entry information.

If the competition is at capacity; entries received within Stage 2 will be added to the reserve list. Where applicable; priority for tee times will remain with the entries received before the Stage 1 entry closing date.

Cut

There will be a cut after Round 3. It is predicted the top 24 men (plus tied placings) will go through to the 4th round.  The cut for the women will be subject to entry numbers. This is subject to change.

Caddies

The use of caddies is permitted. Competitors must inform a BUCS member of staff prior to the round that they'll be using a caddie.

Changing Facilities

There are changing facilities and showers located within the clubhouse. A limited number of lockers are available. BUCS cannot be held responsible for any loss of valuables or equipment during the event.

Dress Code

Competitors are expected to dress appropriately when in the clubhouse; trainers, sandals, jeans and sportswear are not permitted indoors. Competitors must therefore bring a change of clothes and footwear for use in the clubhouse. No golf shoes or hats are permitted in the clubhouse.

Food & Drink

A selection of food will be available to purchase from the clubhouse during normal opening hours. More information will be available at registration.

Competitors are responsible for providing their own food and drink throughout the competition. All competitors and spectators have a responsibility to keep the venue and competition areas clean and tidy.

Presentations

The presentation of awards will take place following the conclusion of Round 4. Competitors and spectators are encouraged to remain in the clubhouse for the announcement of the winners and presentations.

Covid Measures

The safety of students, volunteers and staff remains paramount as we move into the 2021-22 season, therefore for the time being we will still be implementing a series of COVID-19 Measures at our events. Although certain safety measures surrounding COVID-19 will be dictated by a venue or specific sport requirements we will be continuing to implement the following general measures across all of our events.

  2. Whist inside staff members and volunteers interacting with competitors will be wearing appropriate face coverings
  3. Access to hand-washing facilities, or hand sanitiser

 What’s expected of competitors:

  1. Event competitors should stay home if they have tested positive for COVID-19, or are suspected to have COVID-19 
  2. Event competitors are expected to test if they have any COVID-19 symptoms or live in the same household with someone with COVID-19 symptoms prior to attending an event
  3. Competitors should stay home if they have been instructed to quarantine/self isolate due to international travel restrictions or by relevant home nation test and trace systems
  4. Competitiors are encouraged to take a lateral flow test before attending indoor events regardless of symptoms
  5. Competitors must follow direction from event staff, venue staff and volunteers.
  6. Competitors should ensure they are following hand hygiene practices at all times
  7. Competitors are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering when indoors and moving about the building
  8. Competitors should follow the guidance and safety procedures outlined for the event you are attending. These can be found in the Event Guide
  9. Competitors unable to attend event due to COVID-19 must contact the event lead
