  • Women’s Overall Team – The team placing shall be determined by the fastest cumulative time for three female athletes from the same institution, irrespective of the wave they compete in.

Only one team per university per team competition will be awarded BUCS points.

*Para-athletes of all eligible classifications compete alongside non-disabled athletes but results for eligible para-athletes are extracted and ranked separately on a multi-classification basis using a factoring system.

Please note that BUCS points will not be allocated where the minimum number of competitors has not been reached, and where there are not enough individual scores to extract a team score. Furthermore, an individual/team must have beaten another individual/team to score BUCS points (i.e. if 3 individuals finish an event, only 2 will score BUCS points)

For more information please see Appendix 1 and Reg 6

Entry Allowance

Institutions are permitted two guaranteed entries, and an unlimited number of non-guaranteed entries. Institutions must rank their competitors on BUCS Play in order of preference before the closing date. If the event reaches capacity these rankings will be used to determine the start list.

The capacity for this event is 800 competitors.

Competition Format

The BUCS Duathlon Championships will comprise of:

  • 5km run (4 x 1.25k laps)

  • 20km bike (8 x 2.k laps)

  • 2.5km run (2 x 1.25k lap)

There will be draft-legal waves taking place as well as non-drafting waves to cater for all abilities and improve the standard of competition for all.

Draft Legal Waves

We have added draft legal competition to this year’s event following feedback from previous years around safety and consultation with the event organisers and British Triathlon. This will be implemented in a hybrid format, which means we will be running two draft legal waves in the Open category and one in the Women’s, and all other athletes will then compete under non-drafting regulations.

Anyone competing in the draft-legal waves will need to have both experience of draft-legal racing and equipment that complies with British Triathlon Age-Group draft-legal rules (please see Reg 5.2(d)).

Event Schedule

There will be draft-legal and non-drafting waves. Your wave time will be allocated after entries have closed; you cannot choose your wave time. Please check the website after entries close for a list of accepted entries and wave times.

11:00 - Race 2 - Non-drafting
