Registration

Sign on will be held on the raised platform in the Track Centre. Please make sure that you have your British Cycling/UCI licence ready and that your licence has a photo of yourself, is signed and completed with the relevant emergency contact information. Spot checks are carried out by  commissaires, and they reserve the right to pull you from the competition if you cannot provide all the required information. 

 

Registration Times are as follows: 

Friday: 18.10pm-18.50pm 

Saturday: 8.45am-9.30am 

Sunday: 8.45am-9.30am 

Competition Regulations

Sprint 

The best 16 riders in the 200m qualifying round will progress through to contest the 1st round of Sprints. 

The competition shall at least include: 

- 16 riders 

- A 200 meters time trial, flying start 

-1st round sprints, straight 

-1/4 finals, straight 

-1/2 finals, straight 

-Finals 5th – 8th , straight 

- Finals 3rd-4th and 1st-2nd, best of 3 rounds 

Elimination Race 

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the bylaws and run as a straight final. 

Points Race 

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the bylaws and run as a straight final. 

Time Trials 

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the bylaws and run as a straight final. 

Individual Pursuit 

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the bylaws and run as a qualifying of top 4 for medal finals. 

Team Sprint 

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the bylaws and run as a qualifying of top 4 for medal finals. 

Team Pursuit 

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the bylaws and run as a qualifying of top 4 for medal finals

Positioning of Race Numbers

Ensure that your numbers are positioned as demonstrated in the diagram on both left and right side. This will ensure that both the Commissaires and Timing Box are able to identify you correctly. If you have a no pins skin suit, please ensure that your numbers are at the furthest most points of the outer sides. Unidentifiable numbers will result in relegations to the end of the race result. 

 

General Information

 

Pop Up Concession 

Brooks Cycles will have a concession store located within Track Centre. Tony will be holding stock of all your track essentials and be on hand for any mechanical needs too. 

Race Queries 

If you wish to query the result of a race, this needs to be made within 30 minutes of the completion of said race. All queries must be made directly to Jo Dabbs  (Tournament Director) who will take the request and detail the specifics to the Race Jury. All decisions from the race jury are final. 

Bike Storage 

There is strictly no access to track centre until Friday evening at 18.00pm when the venue opens for any riders or support teams associated to the BUCS event. Do not attempt to gain access to set up pens or leave equipment before this point as there are events taking place. This is non-negotiable and applies to everyone. If you wish to leave your bike within track centre overnight on the Friday and Saturday, you do so at your own risk. The venue nor event organisers take responsibility for any unattended equipment over this period. 

Bike Hire

There will be no availability to hire any bikes from the Venue over the weekend. Please ensure you have the correct bike prior to arrival.

Institutions Pens:

All pens will be allocated prior to arrival. These have been selected based on the numbers of riders per institution and will be set up by the venue. Pens will be clearly marked with the Institutions names. 

Accreditation:

All riders and staff will recieve accreditation via a wristband. These should be collected on registration during arrival. After leaving the centre of the track, riders or staff will not be allowed access without a wristband to show.

Food & Drink

There will be a cold refreshment stand provided by the venue in the Track Centre. There is also a cafe in the venue which is available for all to use. 

Changing Facilities/Disabled Access

Changing facilities will be provided by the Venue 

There is disability access into and around the venue and into and out of the track centre 

Parking

Parking is available at Derby Arena for £3 per day on Friday and Saturday. 

Parking is free of charge on Sunday. 

Spectators

Spectators are able to view the Championships free of charge.

Licensing

To compete at the BUCS Track Cycling Championship, you will need a Racing Licence. If you do not hold a British Cycling racing licence you will need to buy a Day Licence at the event on each of the days you compete, (e.g. one licence for Saturday and one for Sunday).  

The cost of a licence (per day) depends on which British Cycling Membership you have:

Withdrawals

Substitutions / Reserves:  

Substitutions will only be permitted in the Individual Points races and, the Team Pursuit races, and the Team Sprint races. The following shall apply in regard to who shall be an eligible substitute and when substitutions can be made:  

Individual Points races: Any individual entered into another event at the Championships who would be eligible base on other event criteria, such as the British Cycling Transgender and Non-Binary Participation Policy.   

Team Pursuit and Team Sprint races: Only reserves submitted as part of a team’s entry on BUCS Play shall be eligible to be a substitute for that team. Reserves must be allocated per team upon entry. Reserve riders are to only be allocated to 1 team and cannot ride in another to make up numbers. Reserve riders are not able to be entered in multiple teams nor provide “floating cover”. Five riders may be entered per Team Pursuit team, four riders may be entered per Team Sprint team.   

Substitution requests should be made in person at the event.  

Withdrawals:  

Prior to entries closing, withdrawals can be made free of charge. After the IA deadline has passed (Thursday 15 February 2024), no refunds will be given for withdrawals. All withdrawals must be sent to your institution and emailed to Joe O’Loughlin

Fines

Any riders/teams that ‘Do Not Show’ (DNS) for their race will be subject to a £100.00 fine.   

Photography & Videography

Anyone wishing to take photos or video at this event must complete the BUCS Media Accreditation Form prior to the event.  

BUCS reserves the right to prohibit photography equipment being used at a BUCS event. BUCS reserves the right to request that the individual ceases to take photographs, deletes any images and, if considered necessary, leaves the venue.

Sustainability

The sustainability of our event matters to us and these are the positive steps we are taking to manage our environmental impact: 

  • All staff and volunteers are encouraged to travel to the event via public transport 

  • We have used local suppliers where possible 

  • Event programmes are all online, minimising paper use
