REGISTRATION
Participants should register prior to their allocated session, which can be found in the accepted entries tab above. Participants should not arrive at the venue earlier than their registration time/route judging session, to avoid overcrowding. Registration times for each session will be as follows:
Session 1 Registration: 08:00am-08:30am
Session 2 Registration: 11:35am-12:05pm
Session 3 Registration: 15:05pm-15:35pm

Progression to Finals
PROGRESSION TO FINALS
Progression to the finals in the evening will be calculated using scores from your climbing session. The top 4 male and female climbers progress to the final. Competitors are welcome to stay and spectate – There will be an area set aside to accommodate this.
For the finals, we have a two judges outside of an institution to remove any bias and this will allow for a seamless yet gripping final!
Presentations
PRESENTATIONS
Presentations will take place immediately after the final climb-offs, at around 21:30. Presentations will be made for the Male & Female Winners, and the Male & Female Team Overall Team Winners.

Withdrawals and no shows
WITHDRAWALS
Withdrawals can be made through an institution administrator, via email, to Jodie Lawrence.
Withdrawals made after the Institution Administrator deadline (2 February 2023 at 23:59pm) but at least 7 days prior to the event will still be charged the entry fee, but will not incur any further fines.
Withdrawals made less than 7 days prior to the event will still be charged their entry fee and will also be charged a £25 withdrawal fee, due to the proximity to the event.
Any no shows for route judges will incur a £15 fee per institution.
Parking
PARKING
The Climbing Works is situated in Centenary Works, which has its own free car park. Spaces are on a first come first serve basis, although there is also free roadside parking available outside of Centenary Works, should the car park be full but please be mindful and considerate of residents, please avoid Athol Road but Smithy Wood Road and Woodseats Road are ideal. There will also be parking available at Robert Sorby Tools over the road to the climbing works. Please ensure you park considerately and only in marked bays if in the car park.
Photography and Videography
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY
Anyone wishing to take photos or video at this event must complete the BUCS Media Accreditation Form prior to the event.
BUCS reserves the right to prohibit photography equipment being used at a BUCS event. BUCS reserves the right to request that the individual ceases to take photographs, deletes any images and, if considered necessary, leaves the venue.
BUCS points
BUCS POINTS
BUCS Points will be awarded to the top 4 competitors in the Men’s and Women’s Individual competition.
Team Points will also be awarded to the top 8 teams from both the Men’s and Women’s competition. This is awarded by taking the top 3 scores of entrants from each institution to form an extracted leader board.

The sustainability of our event matters to us and these are the positive steps we are taking to manage our environmental impact:
- All staff and volunteers are encouraged to travel to the event via public transport
- We have used local suppliers where possible
- Event programmes are all online, minimising paper use
How can you help at this event? Here’s some ideas:
- Be self-sufficient by using refillable bottles and coffee cups to reduce waste
- Travel smarter – as a team on a minibus, cycle or use public transport
- Go paperless - use your phone for all event information

It is requested that any vests/university branded clothing is worn, particularly for the finals should you qualify for this. Please, if possible, bring any university kit to wear and represent your institution!

FISU World Championships 2024
This event will be used as qualification for the FISU World University Sport Climbing Championships 2024 in Koper, Slovenia with competition dates of the 9 September 2024 to 12 September 2024.
All athletes who wish to be considered for selection must submit an online registration on the BUCS website by 11.59pm on Tuesday 22 February with nominations open from Monday 12 February.
Any athlete who fails to complete the online registration and submit the supporting document (IANA & CAE form) by the deadline may not be considered for selection. Please note that this process will necessitate your university confirming your eligibility in writing on a template form, and this being received by BUCS by the stated deadline.
Selections are scheduled to take place w/c 11 March 2024 with selected athletes notified by email w/c 25 March 2024.
