The day is designed for staff who are responsible for the delivery of physical activity programmes at their institutions and specifically the delivery of projects regarding the interventions mentioned.

BUCS Active, made possible by Sport England funding, supports institutions by providing digital technologies and workforce development training opportunities to supplement their on-campus delivery.

To celebrate and profile the fantastic work institutions are delivering within BUCS Active, we are hosting a network day on Tuesday 29 March.

The day will bring BUCS members together to facilitate networking around physical activity within higher education, with discussion focussed around the three interventions below:

  1. Tackling inactivity in female students
  2. Using physical activity to tackle mental health issues
  3. Increasing the number of students from lower socio-economic backgrounds engaging in sport and physical activity

Sport England funding allows us to offer this event free of charge for any institution that has delivered a BUCS Active project to date and subsidise the cost of the event for all other members.

The day will consist of the following:

  • Overview of BUCS Active and the impact it has made across its four cycles.
  • Workshops from guest speakers focusing on each of the interventions funded within BUCS Active. Confirmed speakers are Sport England, Student Minds, MIND, Women in Sport and Street Games.
  • Case studies shared by BUCS Active projects.
  • Opportunities to share best practices, discuss challenges and network with other institutions.

Bookings will close midday Tuesday 15 March 2022.
