Please note: The weight categories listed here are subject to change. Categories are only available according to the number of entries received – if only 1 entry is received then the category will not be run.

Men – All weights include: Open Class (14+ bouts), Open (6-13 bouts) and Novice (0-5 bouts)

Women – All weights include: Open Class (10+ bouts), Open (5-9 bouts) and Novice (0-4 bouts)

Every competitor in class A contributes to their overall team score. Points are awarded in each weight category according to the table below.

These points are not BUCS points, they are points used to determine the Overall Men’s and Women’s Team Award.

Entries for this competition are capped. Each category is limited to eight competitors. A maximum of one entry per institution per category will be accepted. Two non-guaranteed places (reserves) from each institution can be named in each category. Please rank on BUCS Play your preference for each category.

If a category has not reached capacity, listed reserves from institutions will be permitted where space allows.

If capacity is hit in the Novice category, priority will be given to those with a minimum of 3 bouts. Entries will then be accepted based on bouts won / lost ratio as recorded on the competitors card.

If capacity is hit in the Open and Open Class categories, entries will be prioritised based on bouts won / lost ratio as recorded on the competitors card.

If there are multiple competitors with the same win / loss ratio, a random generator will be used to fill the remaining spaces.

Reserves will only be charged an entry fee if they are accepted into the competition.

Where possible we will run a category B championship in categories that are oversubscribed to provide as many reserves as possible the opportunity to box in the tournament. There will be no points awarded in these categories and they cannot contribute to the overall team points. However, it will provide an opportunity for reserve boxers to compete in the competition should there be an appropriate opponent.

All boxers must be registered with and have a valid license with the International or National Governing Body of their Home Nation, as well as a Boxer Competition Record book which details their competitive experience, to include any previous competitive experience from other combat sports.  Boxers must be a member of an amateur boxing club affiliated to that NGB, not the Amateur Boxing Alliance or any other breakaway group. 

All coaches must hold current qualifications and have in their possession the relevant NGB lanyard to prove they are in date.

All England Boxing boxers and coaches must have the following in place on ‘The Locker’ to compete:

The Locker Boxer Requirements

• Profile picture uploaded showing only the boxer (passport style).
• Digital BCR1 Red QR code ready on your device. To get a valid QR code you’ll need:
  • Current age verification uploaded
  • Current membership registered to an England Boxing club
  • No medical suspensions
  • Pregnancy indemnity form (if applicable).
• Current, in-date medical covering the entire duration of the event.
• Declaration of all previous combat and EB bouts.

The Locker Coach Requirements

• Profile picture uploaded showing only the coach (passport style).
• Digital purple Coach Licence QR code on your device. To get a valid QR code you’ll need:
  • In-date First Aid certificate
  • In-date Safeguarding certificate
  • In-date DBS certificate.

All boxers must have proof of an annual medical at the time of the event. This proof should be brought to registration. Without this, boxers will not be able to compete. If you do not currently have proof of or have completed an annual medical, you MUST do so before the event.

To apply for the competition all eligible competitors must follow these steps:

1. Competitor to apply to the event on BUCS Play (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)
2. Institution administrator approves entry (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)
3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list

Withdrawals before the Stage 1 entry deadline will not be charged the entry fee or be fined.

Withdrawals after the Stage 1 entry deadline and before 5pm on Tuesday 14 January 2025 will be charged the entry fee and fined £15.

Withdrawals after 5pm on Tuesday 14 January 2025 and/or do not attend weigh-in, will be classed as a late withdrawal/ no show will therefore be charged the entry fee and fined £90.

Should a withdrawal be accompanied with a valid doctor’s note, no fine will be given.

Class B & C Competitors (as shown on the competitor entry list when published):

• Should competitors in this category not want to compete in the Class B & C Category, they must withdraw by 5pm on Tuesday 14 January 2025 to avoid being charged the entry fee. Competitors in this category who do not withdraw before 5pm on Tuesday 14 January 2025 and/or do not attend weigh in, will be charged the entry fee and will be fined £90 which will be charged after the event to the competitor’s athletic union.

Anyone wishing to take photos or video at this event must complete the BUCS Media Accreditation Form prior to the event

BUCS reserves the right to prohibit photography equipment being used at a BUCS event. BUCS reserves the right to request that the individual ceases to take photographs, deletes any images and, if considered necessary, leaves the venue.

This will be released closer to the competition date.

If you are having any problems with the BUCS Play app please contact BUCS app support before the entry. Any issues that have not been brought to BUCS’ attention before this deadline will not be considered for entry.
