Entry Allowance
Open to competitors at BUCS member institutions. All boxers wishing to enter the BUCS championship, must be registered members of their respective country’s amateur boxing association (ABA) and be a member of an amateur boxing club affiliated to that ABA, not the Amateur Boxing Alliance or any other breakaway group. All coaches must hold a current ABA recognised coaching qualification / accreditation, and be in possession of their registration card at the competition.
Entries for this competition are capped. Each category is limited to eight competitors. A maximum of one entry per institution per category will be accepted. Two non-guaranteed places (reserves) from each institution can be named in each category.
This year we will run a category B in all categories that are oversubscribed to ensure all reserves have the opportunity to box in the tournament. There will be no points awarded in these categories but will provide an opportunity for reserve boxers to compete in the competition should there be an appropriate opponent.
If the categories are oversubscribed BUCS will accept entries based on bouts won / lost ratio as recorded on the competitor's card. Reserves will only be charged an entry fee if they are accepted into the competition. Late entries will not be accepted.
Entry Process
For categories which are oversubscribed BUCS has accepted entries based on bouts won / lost ratio as recorded on the competitor’s card.
Successful competitors have been prioritised in the following order:
- Win / Loss Ratio
- Number of bouts fought
Class B/C competitors have been prioritised in the following order (note: institutions which only have guaranteed entries are given preference over institutions which have additional non-guaranteed entries):
- Win / Loss Ratio
- Number of bouts fought
Entry List
The entry list details all eligible entries received into the competition. There may be some entries which do not have an opponent, and therefore no bout is possible. These competitors will not be charged an entry fee by BUCS. If a category is oversubscribed, the top boxers 1 – 8 will compete in the BUCS Championship for BUCS points and medals.
The next eight boxers 9 – 16 will be invited to take part in a class B category, which does not offer any BUCS points or medals. Should the Class B competitors not wish to take part they are free to withdraw within the timeline given.
On the competition day, should there be a no show/ drop out in the oversubscribed category the Class B competitors will be given priority to fill those spaces in accordance with the entry details outlined above.
Due to the nature of the event, BUCS cannot guarantee competitors a competition bout, as some competitors do drop out at the last minute.
