Single Entry

This competition will NOT operate a staged entry process. As such, please ensure all entries are submitted through BUCS Play prior to the closing date listed above.

Ambulant Events

The following ambulant events will take place at the Indoor Championships 2024-25:

Ambulant 60m (Men’s and Women’s)

Ambulant Long Jump (Men’s and Women’s)

Ambulant Shot Put (Men’s and Women’s)

Entry Allowance

All BUCS member institutions may submit two entries per event. If an event reaches capacity one athlete per institution will be granted entry in the first instance (the athlete with the best performance over the qualification period).

The second entrants per institution will then be ranked in best performance order within the qualification period and will fill the remaining spaces in that event.

Please note that for ALL events, 2 athletes can be selected as guaranteed.

If you enter more than 2 athletes into an event, all entries outside the 2 guaranteed spots will be automatically moved to the reserve list and be subject to the £1 reserve entry fee.

Athletes MUST have a valid performance in the required qualifying period in the event(s) that they wish to enter.  Failure to do so, will result in automatic rejection.

Entry Process

please ensure you input your best performance in the format requested on bucs play e.g. mm.ssms, ss.ms, mm.cm. The system will only let you input your times/distance in this format!

To apply for the competition all eligible competitors must follow these steps:

  1. Competitor to apply to the event on BUCS Play (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)
  2. Institution administrator approves entry (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)
  3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list

To be able to compete a person must have competed in that event since 1st January 2023 and have a link to a Power of 10 profile, European Athletics Website, World Athletics website, or their national website, providing it take us to the individual’s profile. that proves this BP.

A person wishing to compete in the 3000m, Triple Jump or Pole Vault must also meet that Entry Standard.

The following formats must be used when entering events:

Relays

Should an Institution wish to participate in the relay, the Institution Administrator should enter a team into the event. Athletes ARE NOT required to have joined the relay squad ahead of the event. Any athlete named in an individual event or on the reserve list may be declared in the relay squad at the event.

Reserves (Substitutes)

Reserves must be entered on BUCS Play alongside the entries which must include a link to Power of 10 or equivalent.

Do not submit a reserve if they are already entered into an event.

There is no limit to the number of reserves an institution can enter. Only athletes named on the reserve list or already competing in the competition will be able to be used as substitutes.

Substitutes must have an eligible BP within the qualifying period, meaning between 1st January 2023 and the entry closing date 21st January 2025, inclusive, for the event they are to be substituted into, and this will be checked when the substitution is made.

Following the closure of entries and any subsequent checking of Best Performances, athletes on the reserve list will not be allowed to be substituted into an event from which they have previously been rejected if the reason for rejection was failing to provide a Best Performance within the  qualifying period, failing to provide a Power of 10 link (or equivalent results link) or not meeting the required entry standard where standards are necessary.

All athletes must provide a link to their Power of 10 Profile (or international equivalent, emailed to Maddi Cannell and translated into English) when applying for the event on BUCS Play. All electronic links for Best Performance will be checked.

These standards must have been achieved between 1st January 2023 and the entry closing date 21st January 2025. This applies to Reserves/substitutes as well.

60m Indoor Track time.

OR must have a 100m Indoor or Outdoor Track time (Athlete will be given the appropriate converted entry BP for seeding purposes from the WA Scoring Tables. This process will only be used if they do not have a 60m time within the qualifying period).
60m Hurdles

60mH Indoor Track time.

OR must have a 100mH/110mH Indoor or Outdoor Track time (Athlete will be given the appropriate converted entry BP for seeding purposes from the WA Scoring Tables. This process will only be used if they do not have a 60mH time within the qualifying period).

Junior Men’s Hurdles times accepted. Younger age group performances will not be accepted.

200m 200m Indoor or Outdoor Track time.
400m 400m Indoor or Outdoor Track time.
800m 800m Indoor or Outdoor Track time.
1500m 1500m Indoor or Outdoor Track time.
3000m

3000m Indoor or Outdoor Track.

5000m Outdoor Track times only, within the entry standard of last summer’s BUCS Championships.  Which was 15:40 for Men and 18:20 for Women.  (Athlete will be given the appropriate converted entry BP for seeding purposes from the WA Scoring Tables. This process will only be used if they do not have a 3000m time within the qualifying period).

Athletes must be classified.

Shot weight should be appropriate to classification.

Athletes must have a performance in the event in which they wish to be entered.

All ambulant events will be scored on the RAZA points system.

 

Entry Rejections

  • Entry rejections will be published on Tuesday 4th February 2025 at or before midday on the BUCS Website. 
  • There will be a 48 hour appeal window for entry rejections. This will close at 23:59 on Thursday 6th February 2025. To appeal a rejection, please email Maddi Cannell.
  • No late entries will be accepted regardless of reason.
  • Any entry without a Po10 link (or equivalent) will be rejected.
  • Entries that do not meet an Entry Standard will be rejected.
  • Entries without a BP achieved between 1st January 2023 and the entry closing date 21st  January 2025 inclusive will be rejected, if there is not a required performance found within the time frame, when entries are checked.
  • Entries for an event that the athlete has not competed in, WILL be rejected.
  • Entries without a BP submitted may be rejected.

Fines

Athletes and teams who fail to advise the BUCS Registration desk of any withdrawals or substitutions prior to the 120-minute deadline before the event will be liable to a fine.

Any student withdrawing from the final of an event will face the above fine and will not be permitted to compete in any other events during the Championships.

Substitutions and Withdrawals

Substitutions and Withdrawals Procedure

Pre-event Substitutions and Withdrawals will close at noon on Wednesday 12th February 2025. After this point substitutions and withdrawals MUST be made at the event.

Withdrawals and substitutions may be made up to 120 minutes before the start of each event. Team captains must complete a withdrawal/substitution form and submit this to the Withdrawals and Substitutions Desk by this time.

Please note the exceptional withdrawal procedure for the following:

Women’s Pole Vault – Friday 11.30

Men and Women’s Long Jump – Friday 17.00

Men’s Shot – Friday 17:00

Men’s Pole Vault – Saturday 16.00

Women’s Shot – Saturday 16:00

Start lists will be on the boards by end of that day’s events.

 

  1. The 120 minute deadline will be judged from the clock on the Registration Desk.
  2. Substitutions can only be made from the list of reserves submitted to BUCS by institutions electronically prior to the event or with an individual who has already been entered into another event and is listed elsewhere in the programme.
  3. Substitutes must have an eligible BP within the qualifying period, i.e. 1st January 2023 and the entry closing date 21st January 2025, inclusive, for the event they are to be substituted into and will be checked on the day. Standards and permitted performances will also apply to substitutions.
  4. Following the closure of entries and any subsequent checking of BPs, athletes on the reserve list will not be allowed to be substituted into an event from which they have previously been rejected if the reason for rejection was failing to provide a BP within the last 2 years, i.e. between 1st January 2023 and the entry closing date 21st January 2025, inclusive, failing to provide a Po10 link (or equivalent results link) or not meeting the required standard for the 3000m, Pole Vault or Triple Jump.
  5. The online withdrawal and substitution forms will be live when entries close for this event. They will remain open until midday on Wednesday 12th February 2025.  After this time withdrawals and substitutions must be made at the event. The live withdrawal and substitution forms will open when registration opens on Friday 14th February 2025.
  6. Mass withdrawals or substitutions may be submitted via email to Maddi Cannell but must be on an excel sheet. In the format of the examples below.  They will remain open until midday on Wednesday 12th February 2025.

Important to note:

Entry Clashes

Anyone wishing to compete in overlapping events MUST inform seeding by filling out the Entry clashes form. If possible, please email Maddi Cannell by midday on Wednesday 12th February 2025.  After that they will have to fill in the form which will be available at the event and handing in to registration at least 120 minutes before the first of the events.  Track events always take precedence.

NB. We shall try to meet your preferences, but NO guarantee is given.

Rules and Regulations

The BUCS Athletics Championships shall be conducted in accordance with the BUCS Athletics Rules and Regulations, the BUCS general regulations, and the UKA (UK Athletics) and Para-athletics Rules of Competition.

All other rules and regulations will be outlined in the event guide.

Photography and Videography

Anyone wishing to take photos or video at this event must complete the BUCS Media Accreditation Form prior to the event

During this event, various filming, photography, and broadcasting may take place. By your presence at this event, you grant your permission for your likeness and voice to be included in pictures and/or on film, and their advertising without compensation or credit.

Anti-Doping

An entrant shall be deemed to have made him/herself/their self, familiar with, and agreed to be bound by the UKA Anti-Doping Rules and to submit to the authority of UK Anti-Doping in the application and enforcement of the Anti-Doping Rules.
The UKA Anti-Doping Rules apply to entrants participating in the sport of Athletics, for 12 months from the date of entry, whether or not the licence holder is a citizen of, or resident in, the UK
