World University Rowing Championships 8's 2014

World University Championships

The international University Sports Federation (FISU) organise a series of World University Championships (WUCs) in even-numbered years.

Entries are by nationality (Great Britain and Northern Ireland), and students need not necessarily be studying in the UK or competing in the BUCS domestic programme.

Entries to World University Championships are made by BUCS on behalf of Great Britain & NI, supported by the National Governing Bodies of sport in Great Britain, and the level of performance will dovetail with NGB World Class performance pathways.

All entries are contingent on NGB support and funding.

Typically, each selected athlete will be required to make a standard Personal Contribution. This amount is a set contribution to event costs that typically include: entry, flights, physiotherapy support, travel visas, team management and administration, participation costs (accommodation and catering), competition kit, teamwear, and insurance. Please also refer to the specific selection document for your sport.

BUCS International competition entries will fulfil the following criteria :
• A FISU or FISU-sanctioned competition
• Where FISU competition is supported by the Great Britain NGB at performance level
• Will attract resource support from the NGB towards delivery of the event, such that it is financially viable
• Will aspire to provide a performance environment corresponding with NGB U23 provision

BUCS will prioritise entries against available resources and additional considerations including but not limited to : national performance agenda, BUCS domestic sporting programmes, previous entry record, participant numbers and relative performance levels.
