Media Zone

Welcome to the BUCS Media Zone. Here you can find information about what BUCS offers from a media perspective, and how you, as an amateur photographer, can get involved in covering it.

BUCS holds many events up and down the country throughout the year, at which we can offer photographers the opportunity to build their portfolio and earn money from their photographs that are purchased.

If you wish to cover a BUCS event, please complete the media accreditation form.

If you have any queries, please contact Elecia Douglas on 07773 216 279.

GeoSnapShot

Launched for #BUCSnationals in February 2015, BUCS is in partnership with online photo sales platform Geosnapshot. The partnership sees volunteer and amateur photographs, attend university sport events in the UK to capture high quality photographs, which are then uploaded and made available for purchase on the GeoSnapShot website.

This new partnership is set to provide budding photographers with the opportunity to earn money from their photography, as well as adding to their portfolio.

Training & Induction

Online training will be available on the GeoSnapShot website prior to events, this will teach photographers how to use the platform and also tips on taking the best photo. For selected major events, BUCS Nationals and Big Wednesday, BUCS will also run pre-event training sessions where these presentations will be done in person.

Pre-event information packs, containing schedules, rosters, maps, key contacts etc will also be distributed.

On the day of the event, photographers will also be required to attend an event day briefing for final training.

Student Photography Competition

At the end of the 2015/16 season, BUCS will select the 10 best photographs from the season and ask BUCS followers to vote for their favourite – the 10 photographs will be voted for on BUCS’ social media platforms.

Awarded as part of the Annual BUCS Awards Dinner, held in conjunction with BUCS conference.

The short listed photographs, will be printed as large media boards and displayed at the Awards Dinner and featured on large screens throughout the venue.

The photographer crowned the winner will be given a special access, behind the scenes pass, to gain work experience in photography at a major sporting event. BUCS will network with sponsors, other National Governing Bodies and members to find a prize.
